Bottom line is, that this movie was a waste of time. Maybe not AS big a waste as Avatar, but a waste nonetheless. I couldn't hear what the characters were saying, there were too many long talking scenes, the battles were confusing as to who was fighting who and why. The best moments in the movie where 1. when you can see the arrow leaving Robin Hood's bow in extreme slow motion, and 2. when the King screams in the weirdest way possible, "I declare him to be an OUTLAAAAAW!!" (It still cracks me up). Other than that, this movie is not worth seeing. It just doesn't work. Click losmovies watch movies free now.

Russell Crowe seems to fat, too old, and too uninteresting to present a romantic or convincing Robin Hook to the screen. He tries to pull it off like an athletic shot-putter in what should be a ballet. Robin Hood should not be played like a gladiator. Gee, Sly Stallone could do same ( just as bad a job) as Crowe did for 10% of Russell's pay!The producers should have signed someone 20 years younger. .

See more: Robin hood 2018 review – Movie review coming soon

I'm surprised by the performance of Academy Award Winners Ridly Scott, Cate Blanchett, and Russell Crowe. This movie is a disgrace to them. I have 3 reasons why this movie is bad. 1. Very boring 2. Has stuff that the watcher doesn't need to know about 3. A Disgrace. I got so flicked off at the end of the movie i just wanted to go up on the screen and tear it down. This movie felt like it was 5 hours long!!! I wasn't the only one asleep. I heard someone snoring in the front seat of me. It about a person who fights and becomes a hero and later his name turns in to Robin Hood. Come on actors/actresses try again! I'll give this a 2/10

See more: Robin Hood cast - – Hot film 2018
Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04122447367141790244noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8988056954244413252.post-75260041165287548712013-09-10T21:36:28.873-07:002013-09-10T21:36:28.873-07:00Wasn't aware of this film but it looks awesome...Wasn't aware of this film but it looks awesome.Robhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13068196575763786944noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8988056954244413252.post-13707865828457394842012-06-26T14:50:11.403-07:002012-06-26T14:50:11.403-07:00In depth article. My argument here goes across many o...On to part 2!

My argument here goes across many of your points. I'll try to keep this in order, but forgive me if I end up retreading old ground or making odd paths.

I agree that the choice of John, Will, and Alan as members of other parts of the United Kingdom was calculated, absolutely. It is not, however, due to the Magna Carta's pan-British (and Irish) benefits, but rather the films underlying theme of English jingoism and Francophobia. The "benefits" of English government (via the Magna Carta, which Robin represents) were brought to the Scots, Irish, and Welsh not through appeals to justice or exemplary government but through campaigns of systematic slaughter and oppression on a national scale. By celebrating the British government under the control of the Magna Carta, especially by including LJ, WS, and AA as his subordinates (they are not equal partners) he is also celebrating the cruelties done to Scotland, Wales, and Ireland in order to bring them under English control. It is not the voice of subversion in this context, but rather the voice of the establishment. A loud, crooning voice.

This celebration of 'Englishness' appears throughout the film, and you have taken note of many of its instances, down to the comment on Robin's "good Saxon name". This particular comment, and the opening scenes of the film, are really the only hints we get that the English nobility is in any way attached to France. Historically the nobility were deeply French, and all spoke the language. One of the key causes of the rebellion, after all, was John's loss of his continental patrimony. Indeed, 'Aquitaine' is never mentioned regarding Eleanor, and she takes great umbrage with the decidedly French Isabelle. This systematic othering of the French is unappealing at best and appalling at worst. In an age when the English and French nobilities were so closely related to treat the French as aliens of the worst sort it is absolutely ridiculous, artistic license or not. It is also unnecessary if the film is truly all about the Magna Carta since, as you have pointed out, the kings of England themselves are already unjust enough to warrant the creation of the document.

Though relatively minor, the attitude of the Church in the film is also symptomatic of this nationalism, as by vilifying the Latin Church (headed by a distant and faceless archbishop) he provides justification for Protestantism.

I will agree that some symbolic points can be drawn from Robin's father being a mason, but there is also an argument to be made that manly civilians in films about the middle ages only have two jobs: mason and blacksmith. You can't hide an impressive-looking charter in a sword hilt.Alexandernoreply@blogger.com
